Official Not Another Damn Travel Blog Travel Tips:
|
And in the event that the above section was not as helpful as you envisioned, here are my favorite sources of "pre-travel prep material":
- My Competitors (i.e. people that are actually good at this and make a living off of it):
- The Blonde Abroad - As a balding Dad that still wears cargo shorts, apparently being not bald, and having a good sense of style, is pretty helpful in putting together a kick-ass travel blog
- Nomadic Matt - Super informative blog that slightly makes me hate Matt for thinking of this idea before I did
- Trip Advisor Forums - Fantastic way to research a potential destination. Caveats apply, as the forum relies on other internet posters. And if we've learned anything in the last decade, the internet does not lie. Ever.
- Flight Search Engines:
- Matrix ITA Flight Search - Probably the most "powerful" flight search engine (but does require a bit of technical know-how)
- Google Flights - Fantastic for finding cheaper flights when your departure/arrival dates are flexible (so basically excludes all parents who are stuck with this damn inflexible school calendar)
- Skyscanner - Great when you just wanna get from Vague Destination A to Vague Destination B (Texas to Europe)
- Car Rental:
- Economy Car Rentals - No frills, no hidden fees and most of their cars have 4 wheels and a steering wheel (at least from my experience thus far)
- Accommodation:
- Airbnb - If you don't know, I really am not sure what to say to you.... are you Amish?
- Booking.com / Agoda.com - Good prices, reliable reviews, great customer service. I'm sure someone will buy them out and ruin them eventually.
- Trip Advisor - Used primarily for reviews (see caveat above)
