Hello! And welcome to Not Another Damn Travel Blog! A site that provides almost zero helpful information as it relates to travel, and instead, offers a satirical viewpoint on the life of occassional overseas travelers. Think of our blog like a Lonely Planet guidebook, yet instead of useful material, replace any semblance of insight with a photocopy of previously-recycled travel memes.

Your hosts of the blog are the Soskolne family (aka the "Skones" for those of you who struggle with multiple syllables). Our story is like that of oh-so-many family travel bloggers. Boy meets girl. Boy convinces girl to travel to bed-bug-infested resort in Honduras for $8/night. Girl immediately obtains "wanderlust." Places are seen. Experiences are experienced. Babies are made. Travel becomes. different. Yup, that's it. Different.

Without further ado, the introductions:
 Mark (aka Skone aka Bobby Tiger):
As the "voice of the blog," Mark has been an avid traveler since the ripe age of 0. Early travels were not without their setbacks however (e.g. being forced to watch "The Joy Luck Club" 4 times in a row on a long-haul flight to Australia). Nonetheless, the travel bug persisted, as has the inability to avoid taking multi-month-long sabbaticals every 4-5 years.

  • Current Travel Wishlist = Patagonia, New Zealand, USA Post 2nd Civil War
  • Favorite Parasitic Consumption Moment:
    • Location = Zanzibar
    • Presumed Source of Parasite = "Re-Filled" Bottle of Water
    • Aftermath = Made the hike to the top of Kilimanjaro... a much more "interesting" experience

Julie (aka Jules aka Grandmother Moehlig):
As the blog's official Editor-in-Chief, Julie's entry into the world of traveling occurred a bit later in life. Known by most for enjoying a good nap, a good book and a good ball of yarn, the life of a backpacker was a bit of a culture shock to Julie. Nonetheless, prevail she did, and now Julie can claim the proud role of an exceptional partner in life/travels/late-night-meme-sharing.

  • # of Countries Visited = 39
  • Current Travel Wishlist = Time Machine to When Cruises Weren't Death Traps
  • Favorite Parasitic Consumption Moment:
    • ​​Location = Luang Prabang, Laos
    • Presumed Source of Parasite = Mayonnaise-Filled Sandwich Left in Direct Sunlight for 24-96 hours
    • Aftermath = Made the overnight bus ride / 3-day motobike trip to Ha Giang, Vietnam... a much more "interesting" experience

Lincoln (aka Linc aka Brave Lincoln):
As the "elder child" of the Soskolne family, Lincoln developed an early obsession with airplanes, which has continued into his 8th year of existence. Adding to that a keen desire to walk / hike / stare aimlessly at any form of moving transportation, and Lincoln is undoubtedly a future backpacker at heart.

Fun Travel Facts:
  • # of Countries Visited = 11 (and counting!)
  • Current Travel Wishlist = The Pool, The Arcade, TV (not a place, just a heavily-requested activity in which to partake)
  • Infamous Travel Reputation = Declaring every travel day, ice cream day (hard to argue if you really dive into the logic here)

Fun Non-Travel Facts:
  • Biggest Fear = Gravity
  • Favorite Non-Screentime-Related Activity = TBD (it changes every 5-10 minutes over the course of a Saturday)
  • Growth Chart Height Percentile = 10% (Andre-the-Giant-esque in comparison to the author of this partially-viewed blog)
Finn (aka Finnigan O'Flannigan):
As the youngest member of the Soskolne clan, Finn's journey into existence was an adventure in itself. Born just a tad early (i.e. 29 weeks or in baby-unfamililarity-terms, that time when it's still considered rude to ask someone if they are pregnant), we can only assume Finn's premature entrance into this world was to allow himself more time to explore it. Well played good sir, well played.

  • # of Countries Visited = 10 (gonna be a hot minute til he catches his brother)
  • Current Travel Wishlist = The Pool, The Arcade, TV (we're kinda in a copy-your-brother phase at the moment)
  • Infamous Travel Reputation = The ability to fall asleep approximately 5 minutes prior to reaching any given destination

Fun Non-Travel Facts:
  • Biggest Fear = Fear itself?
  • Favorite Non-Screentime-Related Activity = Laughing ("it's my favorite")
  • Growth Chart Height Percentile = 15% (must have found that bottle of growth hormones my parents were stashing away for me)
